As a class, we read the 'Great Kapok Tree' by Lynne Cherry. Alicia represented the Kapok tree. Everyone in the class had to choose an animal and explain why the Kapok tree was important to them. We discussed what would happen to the animals if the man had chopped down the tree. This discussion then brought on other global issues such as pollution, global warming, littering, water etc.
