Our next learning challenge this term will be 'Why is Brazil in the News again?'. In order for us to be ready for this could you research one topic on Brazil. For example the climate or capital. You can research anything about Brazil, but try not to research the football team as I can guarantee that half of you would research the same topic.

You could create a poster about this or write it out so that you can present this to the class for our first topic lesson when we are back.

The Brazilian Flag (picture seperate)

The current flag of Brazil was adopted on May 11 1992 with 27 stars, previously it had 21 stars in November 1889.
Designed by Raimundo Texeira Mendes , the national flag of Brazil consists of a green background with a large yellow rhombus (looks like a slanted square)in the middle of it . In the rhombus is a blue circle with white stars of different sizes looking like a starry sky. There is a white banner running through the circle. On the circle is motto which reads "ordem e progresso" which means in English "order and progress".
Each of the 27 stars represents each federal district and state of Brazil.
The green colour signifies Brazils green forest region, while the yellow coloured diamond shape indicates Brazils gold resources. Brazil was once home to the largest gold mines in the world.

I was in a house with broken windows. I ran up stairs to have a look out the window, suddenly I saw the green grass. It hadn't been touched because there were terrifying story's about it. One day the post man came! He lifted the mail out the van and walked across the grass and vines cam strolling to him like waves were splashing in a swimming pool. When I looked there was a cat creating the splashing of the vines. The post man tired to run! I looked away is he gone? I looked back and he wasn't there...!
