It was a great opportunity to go out on water and row .i loved paddling in the water with the oars and experience the thrills of water and literacy together as one and as well as work we did an interesting sport that I've never done before . The best part was were Emily was in the water an she paddled to the other side and back it was funny and we get to do it next week it is amazing and adventurous

On wedenday 30th april half of class five went rowing. We learned about bar codes and had to find links to various websites e.g durham cathedral. We also got into the rowing boats for the first time. We sat in the boat at the very side of the river and practised using the ores. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to go again

As soon as we arrived there we had to research about eight sights we could see from the bandstand in our groups. Next we had to use that information and write it down in our own words. After that we did some rowing on the side of the river with someone holding down the other oar so we didn't float into the middle of the river. Not long after that we were shown what we would be doing next week so we were shown how to row into the middle of the river and be pulled back. And then we had lunch.

When we left school and got on the bus, everyone was really excited .This was because today we were going onto the water and practicing with the paddles .When we arrived at the rowing club, we all went inside and sat down in the classroom to start the literacy part, which is QR codes. We had to research what we saw last week like the bandstand and Durham Cathedral, and then write about what we had learnt about them but in no more than 25 words. After we had all finished, we started the rowing I was really excited, but nervous at the same time .My group was Holly, Isabelle, Lauren and Ava .When it was my turn I was really scared in case the boat tipped over! But it didn’t and it was really good fun.I really enjoyed the rowing and I’m looking forward to next week because we are going to use both paddles and go further out in to the water.

On the second week of the literacy rowing we firstly went into the class room and went onto the computers and found some information about the places we had wrote down on our sheet the week before. Once we had found lots of information we sat around a table together and shared our information.

Well the people who went rowing and got to learn about QR codes and then after we went out on to the boats and our teacher told us how to use the paddle and how to make sure the boat was stable so we went on the river and enjoyed it. And then we had our lunch and then went back to school

That day was sooooooo great. First we had to complete a literacy challenge then after we actually got to row on the boat. Only at the side though and we rowed with one oar. The weather was excellent.

Well in rowing we have been searching facts about Durham viewing points. Then when went to the side of the riverbank with the rowing boat and learnt with one ore. Then the next week we were attached with a rope and we rowed backwards to the other side then came back to the riverbank and that's what we having been doing in rowing.
